Theming with Omega 4 and Sass/Compass

The Omega 4 base theme is a big change compared to Omega 3: theming is done by changing the template files (versus the layout builder in Omega 3) and Sass/Compass support has been added (versus vanilla CSS in Omega 3). 

The learning curve is much higher but the reward is immense: you are no longer stuck with predefined layouts of certain widths, you have full control over the HTML-markup and the Sass/Compass support allows for custom breakpoints, nicer typography, sprite generation, inline-image generation and much more. 

In this session I will:

• explain the differences between Omega 3 and 4,
• show how to setup the dev stack,
• show how to install an Omega 4 subtheme,
• give a brief introduction to the power of Sass and Compass,
• show how to render different layouts depending on the context.
